Sunday Review #3

It’s been a non-stop week at Stage2! Last Sunday some of our members took their LAMDA Exams following weeks of hard work, and afterwards we had the Concept Meeting for Private Peaceful.

The next day was the start of Swallows and Amazons Production Week, with the get-in on Monday, then the Tech Rehearsal, Dress Rehearsal and first two performances on the successive days following.

Saturday Supplement

And yesterday was the final day of Swallows and Amazons Production Week – and what a day it was! We had the matinée performance in the afternoon, which, other than lightning striking the theatre during the interval and short-circuiting the lighting board, was perfectly ordinary. Luckily the problem was fixed straight away, and the show continued as normal (albeit with a slightly delayed 2nd half).

After this we had a photo session, going through the entire play and taking pictures of all the most iconic moments of the play – and there were a lot of them! Then it was the very last performance of the show in the evening. The storm had stopped by now (outside at least – it carried on as usual on-stage!). Everyone had real fun and put in the most effort they could performing the show for the very last time.

Next it was get-out time, meaning we returned props to their owners, took down the set, cleaned everywhere we had been and generally restored the Crescent to how it was in when we arrived.    Then it was time to get a bit soppy, saying thank you to everyone who helped with the show and goodbye to some people who are moving on to pastures new.

Nearly finished now; all that was left was for (nearly) all actors, tech crew, Front of House team etc. to attend the traditional Stage2 Celebration Balti at the Diwan in Balsall Heath, where we stayed until 1.30am this morning. Yep, all that in one day.

Final Print (2)

It’s all over now!

All in all it’s been a thoroughly exhausting week, but one filled with fun, pride and positive memories.

We will be posting a bit less over the next few weeks, as we head into a (much needed) Summer break. We still have some exciting things happening in this time though, and you can stay updated with all of it here.
